Details Emerge in Former School Bus Driver’s Alleged Sexual Assault of Middletown Teen

MIDDLETOWN, CT — The former Dattco school bus driver arrested earlier this month on sexual assault charges is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old boy who was at her apartment playing video games with her son, according to the Middletown Press.

Wendy Valero, 27, was arrested on charges of risk of injury to a minor and second-degree sexual assault stemming from a police investigation that was launched on June 14 into alleged inappropriate conduct by a Dattco bus driver with a 14-year-old male student/victim.

Police said in a press release at the time that Valero was the bus driver for the victim for approximately three years and over the past year they became “friends” on various social media sites.

Valero and the victim would message each other and also exchanged inappropriate pictures, according to police.

The Middletown Press reports the teen asked Valero on June 14 if he could go over to her apartment and play video games with her son, so she picked him up and played games with the boys.

The teen told police that Valero asked him to go into the bathroom where she took off her shirt and pants and then performed oral sex on him and they engaged in sexual intercourse, according to the Middletown Press.

Valero allegedly admitted to engaging in the sexual activity but told police the teen, who she said she thought was 16 and looked 18, initiated it and she obliged, the Middletown Press reports.

Valero, who police said has no association with the Middletown School system at this time, is due back in court on Aug. 2.
