DUI Grandfather Had Child, 3, in Car While Driving in Wrong Direction: Middletown Police
Police say the man was operating at nearly twice the legal limit and his granddaughter was not in a car seat at the time.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man faces several charges after police say he was driving under the influence at nearly twice the legal limit with his 3-year-old granddaughter in the car.
Norman Bendolph, 48, of Liberty Street, was arrested Jan. 19 after an officer observed him driving the wrong way on a one-way street at around 9 p.m., according to the police report.
Police said that Bendolph’s 3-year-old granddaughter was not in a car seat.

Following field sobriety tests, Bendolph was placed under arrest and transported to Middletown Police Headquarters for processing, according to the police report.
While at police headquarters, Bendolph was found to a have a blood-alcohol content level of 0.1577 and 0.1520 in two separate tests, according to the report.

Bendolph was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, risk of injury to a child and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
He was released on a $10,000 bond and is due in court on Feb. 16, according to state judicial records.
