Ex-School Administrator Sues Former Middletown Superintendent: Reports

A former school official has accused ex-Middletown Superintendent Michael Conner of sexual harassment in a lawsuit against the city & others

MIDDLETOWN, CT — The former Middletown associate superintendent of schools claims in a lawsuit that she faced years of sexual harassment by former Superintendent Michael Conner and district leaders did nothing to stop it, according to multiple reports.

The Hartford Courant reports Enza Macri, who left Middletown to become Cromwell’s superintendent of schools in 2019, filed a lawsuit earlier this month against Conner, the Middletown Board of Education and the City of Middletown.

In the lawsuit, Macri claims the district and school board knew that Conner was “repeatedly subjecting” her to sexual harassment and “outright sexual assault” while taking no action to protect her, according to the Middletown Press.

Conner told the Press the allegations are “baseless and untrue” and “adamantly” denied any wrongdoing.

Conner resigned as Middletown superintendent of schools in March after the Board of Education unanimously approved putting him on paid administrative leave in January while claims of improper conduct by central office administrators were investigated.

Conner had been on leave since October, when his request for a leave of absence "based on advice from his doctors" under the Family Medical Leave Act was granted, WTNH News 8 previously reported.
