Faith Lutheran Church announces Mid-week Lenten Series: "Our Stories of Immigration"
The community is invited to this timely and informative series.
Faith Lutheran Church on 300 Washington Street in Middletown will host mid-week worship services every Thursday in Lent beginning March 9th through April 6th at 7:00 p.m. The series is entitled “Our Stories of Immigration”.
It will explore the stories of immigration within the congregation (from Romania, Thailand, Sweden, Germany and elsewhere), their differences and similarities. Then worshipers will discuss how these stories help us to understand the experiences of our own ancestors and that of the immigrants of today.
The series will next focus on the fact that at one time in history, 1 in 6 Lutherans was a refugee. Lutherans have also been persecuted for their beliefs or customs in Lithuania, Latvia, Ethopia and even the United States. Come learn about that time period and how this led to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to presently celebrate the liturgy in at least 33 languages.
