Fight Breaks Out At High School Basketball Game In Middletown: Police
The fight ultimately involved adult spectators and students, according to police.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A fight broke out at the end of the Middletown High School boys basketball game against Weaver-Hartford on Tuesday night and ultimately involved adult spectators and students, according to Middletown police.
Middletown won the game by a score of 73-56.
At the end of the game, police said some student-athletes “engaged in unsportsmanlike conduct.”

“This turned quickly into a fight involving both adult spectators and students,” according to a joint news release from Middletown High School and the Middletown Police Department. “District and School Administrators, along with the Middletown Police Department, were able to quickly control the situation. There was one minor staff injury reported.”
Middletown police are reviewing the video footage to “determine the cause and if future arrests are warranted,” according to the news release.

“The Middletown Public Schools administration are following district policies and protocols to fully address this matter; appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken,” the news release reads. “Superintendent Vazquez Matos will be activating the school’s crisis team tomorrow and will be placing additional staff at the high school to support students and teachers following this incident. Additionally, there will be an increased police presence at Middletown High School.”
