Free Workshop to Learn Outdoor Painting Techniques with Christine Ivers

Covenant Village of Cromwell hosts Plein Air Workshop with nationally recognized Connecticut artist

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” - Pablo Picasso

On June 17, 2015 from noon - 5 p.m., Covenant Village of Cromwell, a faith-based, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community administered by Covenant Retirement Communities, will help Central Connecticut area residents find their inner artist by hosting a Plein Air Painting Workshop with Christine Ivers.

Ivers, a resident of Central Connecticut, has received numerous awards for her paintings. Most recently, she was honored with the Best in Show Awards at the Connecticut Women Artists Juried Exhibit and the New Britain Museum of American Art. In addition to Plein Air workshops, Ivers instructs landscape, nightscape and pastel painting workshops throughout the U.S. and Europe.

During the workshop, she will instruct attendees on the “en plein air” style of painting most commonly used in the 19th century and preferred style of Impressionist artists. Ivers will also demonstrate how to create an outdoor composition and paint landscapes in various mediums.

Seating is limited and by reservation. Lunch will be provided at noon for those interested, and the program will begin at 1 p.m. For more information or to RSVP for the event, please call 1-877-236-0875 or visit www.covenantvillageofcromwell.org.
