Handling Grief During the Holidays

Join us for information and support

Getting through the holidays can be difficult when you are grieving the death of a loved one. This is true not just during the first year of bereavement, but for subsequent years as well. The emphasis on shared traditions, such as religious services, family gatherings, special meals and gift exchanges, can underscore the absence of your deceased loved one more than at any other time. In turn, this may lead to feelings of sadness, loneliness and fatigue that can seem overwhelming.

The Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center is offering an opportunity for grieving persons to come together for both information and support in coping with the challenges of the holiday season. The gathering will take place on Tuesday, December 6, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Center of the Middlesex Hospital Outpatient Center (second floor, next to the Physical Rehabilitation Department), 534 Saybrook Road in Middletown.

The meeting is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Please call Doreen Gagnon at (860) 358-2053 to register.
