Jane Austen Birthday Tea
An elegant tea to celebrate the birthday of the famous author Jane Austen, including delicious food, a lecture, bazaar, and much festivity!
You are cordially invited to a Jane Austen Birthday Tea, hosted by the Connecticut region of the Jane Austen Society of North America! In honor of Jane Austen’s birthday, the event includes a delectable assortment of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and desserts, accompanied by a variety of teas; a presentation by Susan Jerome, Collections Manager at the University of Rhode Island Historical Textile and Costume Collection, entitled, ”Of the Influence of Custom and Fashion upon Our Notions of Beauty”; a travelling bazaar featuring reticule kits, pre-owned and near new books, and whatever else suits your fancy, at bargain prices; a discussion of JASNA CT business, officer elections, and plans for next year; and most importantly many lovely Janeites, some decked out in period or festive costume!
The tea will be held on Sunday, December 6, from 2 to 4 pm, at Crowne Plaza Cromwell, 100 Berlin Road, Route 372 Cromwell, CT 06416.
