Man Dies After Crash On I-91 In Middletown: Police

A 51-year-old from the Bronx was pronounced dead after the collision, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A man died after a crash late Saturday on Interstate 91 in Middletown, according to police.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the southbound lanes near the Exit 21 on-ramp, state police said, identifying the victim as Petrit Marku, 51, of the Bronx, New York.

Marku lost control of the Ford F-350 he was driving and veered from the right lane to the center lane, colliding with a Volvo TK before returning to the right lane and going down a grassy embankment, according to police. The Volvo veered into the left lane and also went down an embankment, police said.

Marku was pronounced dead at Middlesex Hospital, according to police. The driver of the Volvo, a 47-year-old man from Cordova, Tennessee, was not injured, police said.
