Man Found Guilty Of Murder In Middletown
The Middletown man has been convicted by a jury in connection with the killing of a woman in 2018, according to officials.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man has been found guilty of murder in the killing of a woman in 2018, according to officials.
Cornel Myers, 39, was found guilty by a jury in Middletown Superior Court on Nov. 4, Middlesex State Attorney Michael A. Gailor announced Monday.
Gailor said Myers had been in a dating relationship with the victim, who was 29 at the time of the killing.

“In the weeks leading up to her death, the victim attempted to end the relationship,” officials wrote in a news release. “During the last three days of her life, the victim repeatedly told Myers to leave her alone and, ultimately, refused to take his calls or respond to his texts. The evidence established that Myers entered her home in Middletown at approximately 10:20 p.m. on the night of September 7, 2018, and viciously attacked her with a knife. The victim’s throat was slashed and she suffered numerous other cuts and stab wounds.”
The case was investigated by the Middletown Police Department with the assistance of the Western District Major Crime Squad of the Connecticut State Police.

Myers is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 13.
