Middletown Schools Announce Schedule Change for Tuesday, Sept. 8

Temperatures are expected to be near 90 degrees on Tuesday and some students have complained of headaches and stomach aches.

Elementary and Middle schools students will be dismissed early on Tuesday, September 8th.

The middle schools will dismiss at 12:15 and elementary schools will dismiss at 1:00. The high school has air conditioning and will operate on a normal full day schedule.

According to the letter, “When temperatures are hot outside, the conditions in a classroom can be even hotter when fileld with students. It is exacerbated when we have multiple days in a row of high temperatures,” the superintendent wrote. “This week our schools saw an increase in headaches, stomach aches, and asthma-related issues due to the difficult conditions.”

In the letter, Charles writes she is committed to discussing air-conditioning for all schools.
