
On Sunday, May 8, 2016, starting at 10: 00 a.m. at Wesleyan University’s College for East Asian Studies in Middletown, there will be special talk open to general community, titled “The Mothers of Buddhism.” Open to all. No experience necessary.
In honor of Mother’s Day, this Community Talk and Discussion will explore the important women of the Buddhism who have shaped its teaching, culture, and institutions over the millennia. These exceptional women and mothers include the mother of the Buddha, Maha Maya, the aunt who raised the Buddha as a child, Prajapati, his wife, Yasodhara .and Shinran’s wife, Eshinni, and his daughter Kashushini among others.
Attendees are welcomed to bring a photograph of their mothers to be placed on the altar for a special prayer and blessing. The Practice will conclude with a special volunteer sharing of gratitude for our mothers and grandmothers.

Sunday Practice includes voice and sitting meditation. All are welcomed. Lead by Buddhist teacher, Senpai Lewis-Bastías.
