Open call for art exhibit

Middlesex Hospital’s Valentine H. Zahn Community Gallery is holding an open call for local artists to submit artwork for its spring exhibit.

Quality artwork that best represents artists from the Connecticut shoreline and beyond will be shown in a professional setting at the Gallery in an exhibit entitled, “Local Vision.” The exhibit will run from March 31 through May 29, 2016, with an opening reception on Thursday, March 31.

The exhibit will be curated by Jan Ayer of Fresh Ayer Gallery, with notable guest judges selecting work to be recognized.

Submission Guidelines

Submission deadline is January 31, 2016. Professional quality work should be submitted via e-mail to zahngallery@gmail.com in the form of a jpeg or pdf, along with artist contact information (name, address, phone number and e-mail address); title of work; medium of work; size of work; and price of work. Works

should be no larger than 24 inches by 36 inches and the price point should be less

than $2,000. Freestanding sculpture or photography will not be accepted. The

call is open to all artists residing in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Selection notices will be sent by February 20, 2016. Selected works should be matted and framed at a quality gallery level, ready to hang, and labeled with the artist’s name, title, medium and price. Artists will receive 100 percent of sales.

All chosen work must be dropped off in person on Monday, March 28, 2016 between 8:30 a.m. and noon at the Valentine H. Zahn Community Gallery, Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center, 250 Flat Rock Place, Westbrook, CT, and all chosen work must be picked up in person on May 30, 2016 between 8:30 a.m. and noon at the same location.
