The Connecticut Center for Primary Care (CCPC) has recognized the Middlesex Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program with the 2016 Primary Care Leadership Award. The Award recognizes an individual or team who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in primary care and exemplifies the CCPC mission and vision.
Dr. Alan Douglass, Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program, accepted the award on its behalf, at the Center for Primary Care’s 9th Annual Primary Care Summit, held in Farmington on November 10. The Residency Program was cited for devoting itself “to the idea that physicians with broad-based skills are best equipped to provide health care centered on people and the humanistic values that lie at the core of medicine.”
Since it began in 1973, the Residency Program has trained well over 300 Family Medicine physicians, with over 200 of those graduates currently practicing in communities across Connecticut. "We are honored to be recognized for our role in training outstanding family physicians to serve the people of Connecticut," said Dr. Douglass.
