Ring in the New Year at Wadsworth Mansion

Historical tours, carriage rides, and live music -- a fun, family afternoon to start of 2016

Middletown, CT. The Friends of Long Hill Estate and the Long Hill Estate Authority will host their 17th Annual New Year’s Day Open House on Friday, January 1st, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The program is free and includes entertainment for visitors of all ages.

The event will feature docent tours, horse-drawn carriage rides provided by Allegra Farms, and music by the Lost Acres String Band. Visitors are encouraged to walk on the trails that surround the house.

The Lost Acres String Band will perform from 2:00-3:30. They are comprised of violinist Gordon Swift, guitarist Paul Howard, and upright bass John Swift. “The Lost Acres String Band serves up a rich stew of songs and instrumentals from a wide variety of musical traditions, with the added spice of some exotic originals. A typical show includes blues, rags, old-time and contemporary fiddle tunes, Hispanic waltzes from the old Southwest, a classic string-band number by The Mississippi Sheiks, swing tunes from the 1930’s, and a Ray Charles instrumental.” For more information visit: http://www.gswift.com/LASB/
