Stolen Car, Other Vehicle Collide, 2 Hospitalized: Middletown Police
Police said one car was reported stolen out of Wethersfield, and it traveled through Portland before ending in a crash in Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Two people were hospitalized Sunday after a stolen car out of Wethersfield collided with another vehicle, police said.
At 1:45 a.m. the Portland Police Department advised the Middletown Police Department of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through their town, police said. Officers were advised that the vehicle was traveling over the Arrigoni Bridge.
Middletown officers saw the vehicle (2017 Hyundai Elantra) and attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop on Hartford Avenue, police said. The Hyundai traveled through a red light at the intersection of Hartford Avenue and Route 9, police said.

A 2021 Honda Ridgeline traveling south on RT 9 and the Hyundai collided, police said. The occupants of both vehicles were transported to Hartford area hospitals and are listed in stable to critical conditions, police said. The names are being withheld, until all the occupants have been identified, police said. The Hyundai was later reported stolen out of the Wethersfield, police said.
The CT State’s Attorneys Office is also aware of the collision. Any witnesses are asked to contact the Middletown Police Department.
