Woman Left 5 Dogs In Hot Car While She Was In Court: Middletown Police

Police say the dogs were left in the car, with an interior temperature of 104.1 degrees, for two hours.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown woman is accused of leaving her five dogs in a hot car for two hours while she was in court, according to police.

Middletown Police responded to the upper arcade parking lot at 3 Court Street at about 3 p.m. on Sept. 25 on the report of dogs left in a car. (To sign up for Middletown breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Briana DeKorte, 45, left her five dogs in the car, which police say was parked in full sun on a 91-degree day, for two hours while she was in court.

The interior temperature of the vehicle registered at 104.1 degrees, according to the police report.

The dogs were “continuously panting and appeared uncomfortable hot,” police said in the report.

DeKorte, of Spring Street, was charged with cruelty to animals. She was released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 5.
