3 Milford Families Displaced After 'Dangerous Levels of CO' Detected
The American Red Cross is assisting the three Milford families including three children.

Eight Milford residents including three children have been displaced from their Naugatuck Avenue house after dangerous levels of carbon monoxide were detected in the unit, a top fire official said Thursday afternoon.
Fire Capt. Gregory Carman told Milford Patch that firefighters were called to 526 Naugatuck Avenue at 2 a.m. on a report of an odor and smoke in the building.
Firefighters found a malfunctioning boiler and determined the carbon monoxide levels were unsafe, and the Red Cross was called into find them temporary housing.

Multiple tenants reside in the building, Carman said. He added that the owner of the building is working to resolve the problem.

In a press release, Red Cross officials say they are helping the five adults and three children in three families.
The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing needs, as well as stuffed animal toys for the children, the release states. Red Cross volunteers Missy Lundeen and Ryan Lundeen responded to assist the families.
The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.
Also provided was an envelope of information helpful to families, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more.
American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
