'Accumulating Snow' Returns To CT's Forecast This Weekend
It appears odds of 'accumulating snow' are on the rise for this weekend. Here are the latest details on when we may expect the snow in CT.
CONNECTICUT — It looks like we'll be going from 70 degrees this past weekend to the potential for accumulating snow next weekend. Several top Connecticut forecasters say that odds are growing that the state may see accumulating snow on Saturday afternoon.
It's expected that snow will begin in the afternoon hours and possibly mix and change to plain rain in southern Connecticut late Saturday but then the precipitation may end as more snow Sunday morning in southern areas of the state.
In northern areas of the state it appears that the precipitation may stay cold enough to support mainly snow. Since the storm is several days away a lot can change with the forecast but if you have weekend plans, it's something to keep an eye on. No snow accumulating estimates have been released because that will largely depend on the exact storm track and how much cold air prevails with this upcoming storm.

Decent probability for accumulating snow this weekend especially in the Litchfield hills. It all comes down to the track and how much cold air will be ahead of the storm. #nbcct pic.twitter.com/eZ8BHMWcZh

WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Take the umbrella today! It will be dry through early afternoon with high temperatures in the 40s. Some areas of light rain will be coming in between 3 PM and 8 PM so that does include the evening commute. Nice weather for Wednesday with sunshine and temperatures in the upper 40s to around 50! Some early rain on Thursday then clearing out followed by some really cold weather on Friday! High temperatures on Friday will only be in the 20s! I’m expecting snow to arrive Saturday afternoon and night changing to rain during the overnight."
