New Details Released Concerning Milford House Collapse: UPDATE
The apparent house collapse was caught on video but new details were released Tuesday.
MILFORD, CT — New details have been released concerning what appeared to be the shocking house collapse at 24 Cooper Avenue Monday, which is located near Silver Sands. A video, which can be seen below, happened to catch onlookers by surprise as the house, which had been damaged during Super Storm Sandy, collapsed and was destroyed.
But now comes word that the house was intentionally knocked down, WTNH News 8 reports. The house which had been elevated, shifted off of its pilings and had to be demolished due to safety concerns, building officials told News 8 Tuesday.
Milford Fire Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi said Tuesday that the department "responded to an incident involving a residential home in the Silver Sands area. The home located at 24 Cooper Avenue was being raised up by a contractor when it shifted and became unstable. Unfortunately the house had to be demolished for safety concerns."
