Monroe Town Budget 2016-2017: Referendum for is Set for April 5
The proposed budget for the next fiscal year is $1 million higher than the current fiscal year, according to the Town's website.

MONROE, CT-- A referendum for Monroe’s 2016-2017 budget is slated for April 5, according to a statement by First Selectman Steve Vavrek.
The proposed budget for the next fiscal year is $1 million higher than the current fiscal year, according to the Town's website.
First Selectman Steve Vavrek announced last month the proposed reductions and additions for the 2016-2017 Town of Monroe budget in a statement:
“As you know, the First Selectman proposal is the first part of the Budget process. Depending on the pending State Budget and meetings of the Town Council then Board of Finance working with our Board of Education, the numbers you will see below usually get adjusted for your ultimate vote on Tuesday April 5. Please remember, while there will be many public meetings of the Town Council, Board of Finance and Board of Education as well as various Parents Council and PTO’s, you are welcome to ask both my office and the office of the Superintendent any questions you may have.”
