Jailed Attorney In Dulos Murder Seeks Deal In Rape Case: Report
Kent Mawhinney, a friend of the late Fotis Dulos who was charged with conspiracy in Jennifer Dulos' murder, is accused of spousal rape.

HARTFORD, CT — Kent Mawhinney, the South Windsor attorney accused of conspiracy in the murder of Jennifer Farber Dulos, is seeking to cut a court deal in connection with a spousal rape arrest from early in 2019, writes the Connecticut Post.
Mawhinney is accused of sexually assaulting his estranged wife, second-degree unlawful restraint, and disorderly conduct in connection with the January 2019 incident. Additionally, he also faces a charge of violation of a protective order from June of that year.
He is in the midst of divorcing his estranged wife, his second divorce, and the woman reportedly told authorities that Mawhinney attacked her as "payment" for being allowed to live in his home, according to the Post. He appeared in court in Hartford on Friday where prosecutors announced the possible deal; his next hearing in the case is scheduled for April.

Last month, Mawhinney and Michelle Troconis, the ex-girlfriend of the late Fotis Dulos, were charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the disappearance and killing of Jennifer Dulos. Her body has not been found.
Fotis Dulos, a friend of Mawhinney's, committed suicide last month; he had been facing charges of kidnapping and murdering his estranged wife, and also was facing the possibility of returning to prison due to a revocation of his bond.

Mawhinney remains in custody in connection with the conspiracy charge, because he has been unable to post his $2 million bond. He and Troconis are accused of assisting Fotis Dulos with murdering New Canaan resident Jennifer Dulos, whom Fotis was in the midst of divorcing at the time of her May 24 disappearance.
In connection with the sexual assault and protective order violation cases, Mawhinney reportedly is close to a deal with state prosecutors. The potential terms of the deal were not disclosed.
