New Principal Named For East Elementary School In New Canaan

She currently serves as assistant principal at South Elementary School and will take over for Interim Principal John Grasso.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan Public Schools announced Friday the Zoe Robinson has been named principal of East Elementary School.

According to a news release provided by the district, Robinson currently serves as assistant principal at South Elementary School.

She will take over for East Elementary School's interim principal, John Grasso, beginning July 1.

"We are thrilled to introduce Zoe Robinson as the new principal of East Elementary School," Superintendent Bryan Luizzi said in a news release. "Zoe has been an exemplary assistant principal at South School, and is a proven leader in our district. It's exciting to consider the great things ahead for the entire East School community with Zoe as principal!"

Robinson's tenure at New Canaan Public Schools has been marked with many achievements, according to the district. Most recently serving as assistant principal for South Elementary School, Robinson has been instrumental in implementing school-wide policies, facilitating instructional design for staff and developing initiatives to support the district's implementation of the RULER approach for Emotional Intelligence.

She has also served as New Canaan Public Schools' K-8 math coordinator, math specialist at West Elementary School and numeracy instructional coach for the Mathematics Department, PreK-8, in Bridgeport.

"We had a robust applicant pool for this position, and we put together an inclusive screening, interviewing, and selection process," Luizzi said. "The committee consisted of 16 members representing various stakeholders, including the Board of Education, district administrators, teachers, parents, building administrators, and members of the NCEA [New Canaan Education Association], and I want to thank them for their excellent work. Zoe has distinguished herself in countless ways throughout her time in the district, and I’m confident she’ll be an outstanding principal and educational leader at East Elementary School."

Robinson earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Brooklyn College, a master's degree in curriculum, instruction and assessment from Walden University, and an intermediate administrator certification from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

She is currently pursuing a doctor of education in educational leadership, also from Walden University.
