Troconis' Lawyer Says Grand Jury Looked Into Jennifer Dulos Case

STAMFORD, CT — The attorney representing Michelle Troconis in the Jennifer Farber Dulos disappearance case said a federal grand jury had been convened to investigate the late Fotis Dulos, Jennifer's estranged husband who state prosecutors accused of murdering her.

In an interview this weekend with WTNH-TV's Dennis House, Jon Schoenhorn did not offer details of the grand jury, but said he discovered its existence during his own investigation. See the video below.

"I don't know the extent of it, I don't know who testified at it," Schoenhorn said of the federal grand jury. "I can say, however, that I am the one who informed the state's attorney's office of the existence of this grand jury."

When the grand jury was convened, and whether it is still active, is not known, but Schoenhorn said that his work in defending his client is how he learned of it. He has asked the U.S. Attorney's Office for any materials, warrants or other information from the grand jury.

"We can't confirm, or comment," said Tom Carson, spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut.

Jennifer Farber Dulos vanished from her New Canaan home on May 24, 2019, and is presumed to be dead. Her body has not been found, and Fotis Dulos was accused of kidnapping and murdering her. The two were in the midst of a contentious divorce and child custody battle at the time of her disappearance.

Roughly eight months after he was initially charged in the case, Fotis Dulos died following a suicide attempt.

Troconis, who was Fotis Dulos' girlfriend at the time of the disappearance, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, accused of assisting her ex-boyfriend in the murder plot. Also facing the same conspiracy charge is attorney Kent Mawhinney, a former friend of Fotis Dulos.

Schoenhorn, the second attorney to represent Troconis, has filed several motions in her defense, including one last week that seeks to suppress statements she made during interrogations, in part because Schoenhorn claims they were obtained improperly.

Troconis is due in court on Oct. 7, and Mawhinney is due back in court on Nov. 17.
