NEW HAVEN, CT — Wednesday, the New Haven Police Department's Police Activity League will host an outdoor celebration beginning at 11 a.m., to mark the end of a successful five-week summer camp session for children aged eight to 11. The event will include fun and memorable activities for attendees, including bounce houses, inflatable slides, obstacle courses, face painting, a pizza truck, an ice cream truck, and more. The event will be held in the large field behind the football field at Wilbur Cross High School.

New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker and New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson will join the campers to celebrate the success of the PAL program, which aims at building positive relationships between officers and the youth of New Haven and Connecticut. PAL offers various activities such as authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes, a yearly four-week summer camp, a basketball skills clinic, chess classes, among other initiatives.

Throughout the full-day, five-week summer camp, NHPD PAL Campers enjoyed athletic
activities such as basketball and swimming, arts and crafts activities, enrichment activities,
field trips, and special events like First Responders Day. This year’s attendance has nearly
doubled, with over 130 campers participating in the program which began on July and
ends on Aug. 4.
