Man, 28, Charged With Robbing Newington Bank: Police
The suspect was found and apprehended at a Meriden motel.

NEWINGTON, CT — Local police Tuesday said a New Britain man was charged in connection with a bank robbery in town last Friday, Dec. 29, 2023.
According to the Newington Police Department, Matthew Kevorkian, 28, of New Britain, was charged in connection with the robbery of a Chase Bank branch at 3180 Berlin Turnpike, Newington.
Police said he was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree larceny.

He was held on $150,000 bond pending an appearance in New Britain Superior Court on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Police said the robbery happened at about 4:44 p.m. Friday, with Kevorkian accused of passing a note to a teller indicating his intent to rob the bank.

According to the NPD, a teller provided an undisclosed amount of money to Kevorkian, who then fled the scene.
A photograph of Kevorkian committing the robbery was sent to area police departments to identify him, Newington police said.
This, according to police, resulted in several neighboring law enforcement agencies responding positively identifying Kevorkian.
Police said they learned Kevorkian was staying at the Welcome Inn Motel, 2026 N. Broad St., Meriden, and officers witnessed Kevorkian exit the motel and enter a ride share.
Officers performed a traffic stop with the assistance of the Meriden Police Department and took Kevorkian into custody without incident, Newington police said.
