Newington Man Charged with Selling Narcotics Out of Hartford Store
He was in possession of a loaded .357 Magnum when he was arrested Thursday.
HARTFORD, CT — A Newington resident was arrested on a warrant Thursday after lengthy investigation revealed he was dealing large amounts of morphine and quinine from his business in Hartford.
Harwinder Singh, 25, was charged with illegal obtaining or supplying of a prescription drug and conspiracy to commit illegal obtaining or supplying of a prescription drug.
During the month of October, detectives from the Hartford Police Department Vice and Narcotics Unit conducted an investigation into Singh and obtained a search warrant for his business, The Mini Mart, at 737 Maple Avenue, Deputy Chief Brian Foley said.

On Thursday, detectives conducted a narcotics operation prior to executing the warrants. During the operation, investigators obtained information that Singh was in his vehicle with a large amount of quinine and morphine, Foley said.
Singh was subsequently stopped in the parking lot area of 736 Maple Avenue. During the stop, detectives located 501 grams of suspected quinine and morphine and a Ruger .357 Magnum revolver containing four live rounds, Foley said.

After Singh was arrested, investigators executed the search warrant at 736 Maple Avenue, seizing 20 Viagra pills and 89 Herbal Viagra pills, Foley said.
Investigators learned Singh was "stashing" more morphine and quinine at 104 Whitewood Road in Newington. A consent was obtained and an additional 2,500 grams of suspected morphine and quinine, a box of .357 and .38 caliber rounds, numerous packaging materials and approximately $6,964 in U.S. currency were found, Foley said.
