The mayor says the town still urgently needs more affordable senior housing and will work with the housing authority to find alternative sites that don't sacrifice protected green space.

Wallace Middle School welcomes community tonight (newbritainherald.com) — Newington residents are invited tonight to celebrate the grand reopening of the newly renovated John Wallace Middle School, funded by a 2023 voter-approved referendum. From 5 to 6:30 p.m., you can tour the upgraded wings, enjoy refreshments, and hear how the modernized building will support new classes and workforce development efforts across Newington schools.

4. 9/11 ceremonies in Newington, Berlin this Friday (newbritainherald.com) — Newington's Volunteer Fire Department will host a public 9/11 remembrance service this Friday at 6 p.m. at Company 1 on Main Street, marking 25 years since the attacks. Residents can join firefighters to honor victims and first responders, with light refreshments offered afterward and a similar ceremony also planned nearby in Berlin.
