Thanksgiving Stabbing Case Results in Arrest of New London Teen: Police

A victim was sent to emergency surgery after the alleged stabbing and a New London teen was arrested on Dec. 11.

A New London teenager was arrested 21 days after an alleged stabbing took place during the early morning hours of Thursday, Nov. 27.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance at approximately 3:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27. At the residence, police located Myesha Smith-Reyes, 19, of 9 Pearl St.

Smith-Reyes had sustained minor injuries and was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Shortly after that, a second victim arrived at the hospital to be treated for multiple stab wounds that had been sustained during the same disturbance, according to New London Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard.

“The victim had sustained life threatening injuries and required emergency surgery,” he said.

The crime scene was located, secured and witnesses were interviewed.

During the course of the investigation, detectives obtained physical evidence and witness statements that lead to the application of an arrest affidavit for Smith-Reyes. A warrant was issued by the State of Connecticut Superior Court.

At approximately 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, Smith- Reyes was located and taken into custody by New London Police Detectives. Waterford Police assisted with the case.

She was arrested on a charge of assault in the first degree. Smith- Reyes is in custody at the New London Police Department, held on a $75,000 court-set bond.
