
2012 saw a slew of changes to the area, especially to our little metropolis here in New London. But amidst all of the sweeping adjustments to our city, our government, and the world around us, nothing weighed more on my shoulders than walking through a new threshold alongside millions of others...
I joined Weight Watchers.
There's something about the turning of a new year to remind you that, at age 36, eating like a 12 year old no longer suffices for sustaining a healthy lifestyle. Add in skewed portion control, an office job and the subsequent deliveries from around the area's wide selection of gourmet eateries for lunch, followed by long stints of sitting at a desk, mix well...and, voila! A chunky, unhealthy cocktail.

I'll admit, the counting and the weighing and the good-choice-making all seemed tedious and, pardon the pun, heavy at first. But, now, 3 weeks in, and proud to report 7lbs lighter, I'm finding my groove. It's becoming easier each day to pass a drive thru or forego the late night snack to enjoy dinner with my family that came from my own pots and pans rather than a wrapper and a heat lamp.
