L+M Feature Friday!

A new L+M employee will be given the spotlight on Feature Friday.

So, we're now changing this to Feature Friday, where we'll share a great story about any L+M employee or volunteer. We'll still include docs, just not every week.

For our first, meet David Batchelder. Our Patient Safety Committee has named him the latest recipient of the Patient Safety Hero Award, presented quarterly to an employee for his or her contributions to patient safety. It honors those whose exemplary actions have provided a safer environment for L+M patients.

David identified a potential patient safety issue with the hospital’s HUGS infant alarm system. Through his work with the Infant Abduction Team, he identified that any reduction in the two-minute alarm response would result in further reducing the potential risk of harm to babies in our care due to infant abduction. He then took it upon himself to investigate the concern. David worked with the alarm’s manufacturer and our NICU, LDRP and Information Services departments to reduce the overall response time.

Thanks, David, for your initiative!
