This past weekend, the New London High School Concert Band traveled to Hershey, Pennsylvania to compete in the Music in the Parks Festival earning first place in Division 1A and earning the top honor of “Best Concert Band Overall.” Senior Jason Pellum stated, “This is one of the best ways I could have finished off my senior year.” Jason, along with forty-two other high school students, participated in the festival where they were adjudicated on various levels of musicality earning the highest overall possible rating of “Superior.”
Each year the NLHS Concert Band participates in a music festival traveling to places such as Ohio, Virginia, Canada, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. This year there were over forty ensembles participating in the festival. This is also the second year in a row that theses students have taken the top honor.
A special thanks goes out to Director Scott Morgan, the NLHS Band Boosters, and the parents for all their hard work, time, and dedication. Without their help, this trip would not have been possible.
