Joe Paterno is dead.
This topic filled the airways as I discussed it with a number of my listeners on WXLM. I was surprised to find, that like many on the Penn State campus, Joe Pa was still revered, respected and loved. It seems 50 years married to one institution, one wife, one program, has bought the coach some mis-guided good will.
Kids and adults are acting as if a great man has been tragically stolen from us. Quotes on my Facebook page that read " RIP Coach," another said "we love you forever Joe," and my favorite "No matter what you knew you are still a Legend"... Really? No matter what Joe did or didn't do he is still a legend? The fact he let his friend get away with rape is OK??

Life is made up of thousands of decisions every day. Some decisions have little or no impact. For example, what toothpaste you use or what radio station to listen to (Should always be mine). However some decisions are monumental. Where to work, who to love, and when to take a stand. Joe Paterno for my money is a coward. When life drew a line in the sand, he kicked dirt on it and looked the other way. He could have been a Titan, an immortal, but he chose to be a forgettable face in the crowd.
