The New York Times reports that the United States Postal Service is on the verge of becoming totally bankrupt and may have to shut down without a bailout.
Can we save the Post Office? Should we save the Post Office?.....I think I'm from the final generation that actually still uses the postal system. I always feel like a dinosaur when I go in and buy stamps. In fact I think eveyone is laughing at me, even the workers. Everyone below the age of 40 is happy to call, text, tweet, email, Facebook, poke, link, and Skype.
Ask someone in high school about a mailing out a letter or even mailing a resume and see what kind of response you get. You will get that stunned teenage look followed by the inaudible huh? I still write checks and mail all my bills with the USA postal service.

So far, through my first 45 years of existence, I have never had a problem ("knock on wood"). I mail the checks and Uncle Sam takes them anywhere and everywhere on the planet for a mere 25, 28, 35, 38, 39, 41, or now 42 cents...right? it is 42 cents now.....So yes, for all of the old folks and the younger old folks, the post office must survive.
I realize it costs me an extra $100 a year with the stamps and the letters and the gas but I think it's worth it. The cost is terrible and the managment seems to be lacking, but I need the post office. My mom still sends me birthday cards and will occasionally put $5.00 in them. Where would I be without that?
