New London Irish Parade

How about Reel", "slip jig", "hornpipe", and "jig"?
If you understand these terms then you must be an Irish step dancer or know
one. Do you know what “chanter”, “drone”, “air supply” or “bag” means? That
must be a bag piper. These are all terms that come with learning those skills. How
about Celtic language? Saol fada chugat- Long life
to you!  Níl agam ach beagáinín Gaeilge- I speak only a little Irish.

Did you know that the New London Irish Parade offers a scholarship to a student of Irish studies? We do. The mission of New London Irish Parade,
Inc. is to honor St. Patrick and celebrate Irish heritage in New London. We
celebrate all heritages in the parade, but we hold a special place for the
Irish culture. If you are a student of bagpipes, step dance, or Celtic art and
want to apply for our scholarship you should visit our website and download an
application.

On Saturday, March 17th there will be all kinds of heritages represented at the St. Patrick’s Day parade. We hope you will come down to New London to watch the parade, enjoy the shops, restaurants and pubs of New London, tour the Coast Guard ships that will be down at waterfront piers and have a great day in New London.  After all, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day!
