Chinese Food Delivery Driver Robbed, Assaulted: New London Police

This is the third time within the past month that police are investigating a case of this nature.

A Chinese food delivery driver was assaulted and robbed by four young men at approximately 9:37 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, according to New London Police Deputy Chief Peter Reichard.

The young men ran away after the alleged robbery, Reichard said. The delivery person was robbed of food and money. He was transported to L&M Hospital for treatment of his injuries, police said.

A police K9 was called to 108 Hawthorne Drive North to attempt tracking, but the results were inconclusive. The suspects were last seen running toward Ridgeview Circle.

This is not the first time a situation like this has happened in New London. In October, four juveniles were arrested after allegedly conducting a food delivery scam.

The juveniles reportedly called a local Chinese food restaurant and ordered a large amount of food to be delivered to a vacant house on Cape Ann Court, Reichard said.

When the driver arrived, one of the juveniles grabbed the food and when the driver attempted to hold on to them, the juvenile allegedly attempted to assault him, according to police. The four juveniles then ran off with the food.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New London Police Department at 860-447-5269.
