Chloe the Kitten's Injury Already Healing

The 4-month-old kitten's leg was broken by children in her New London neighborhood.

Chloe the Kitten won over the hearts of everyone who read New London Animal Control’s urgent plea for help.

On Sept. 11, Chloe’s sad tale was shared on Facebook. Children in the neighborhood she called home reportedly abused her in an undisclosed way, causing her leg to break.

Animal Control only had enough funds to cover euthanasia and they did not want to take that option.

“Chloe was discharged at 8:30 a.m. this morning from VCA Shoreline. A splint has been placed on her injured leg to protect the fractured bone.”

Chloe’s shoulder blade and elbow joint are at a good alignment and surgical intervention is not necessary at this time, hospital staff said.

“He [the vet] is creating a fiberglass cast that will need to be changed weekly and follow up radiographs at 4 and 8 weeks,” staff said. “Between the time of initial injury and provided care, healing has already begun, and repairing the fracture with pins or plates is not an option. All the generous donations will continue to go to Chloe’s rehabilitation.”

Lucky Ducky

New London Animal Control picked Chloe up from the vet and found her napping with her lucky ducky stuffed animal.

“She seems so much more comfortable in her new splint, and she is starting to be much more mobile and playful,” the ACO said via Facebook. “Her future appointments are set up for her weekly splint changes, and she will be spayed once she’s all healed up. Thank you all again for sharing her story, for donating to her care, and for sending her lots of well wishes.”
