Christmas Saved For Family After Presents Are Destroyed In Fire

Firefighters were able to rescue a New London family's Christmas after their presents were destroyed in a fire.

NEW LONDON, CT - Though they are used to rescuing people in need of their help, this holiday season New London firefighters were able to rescue Christmas for a family after their presents were destroyed in a condominium fire, according to media reports.

The blaze broke out at 19 Hawthorne Drive on Thursday afternoon while no one was home, the New London Day reported. Firefighters quickly worked to knock down the flames, and fire officials said the kitchen received the most fire damage.

Presents intended for a 6-year-old and 3-year-old resident unfortunately did not survive the blaze, NBC Connecticut reported. While the parents were at first unsure what they would do now that their children's presents were gone, firefighter Joe Nott and his police officer wife, Deana, were ready to help.
