“Since the beginning, I have worked from a decorative arts perspective, using decorative patterns as raw material for my work.
My painting it not limited to abstract patterns. For me, it is important to depict stories with emotional elements. Sometimes I use autobiographic references.
Usually, I use photographs, sometimes taken by my parents or family, sometimes taken or found by myself. I mix these images with textures or ornaments or patterns. Surface and depth are interchanged.
I am interested in ornamental patterns because I worked 12 years in the textile design Program of the University of Buenos Aires when I was teaching. I had access to many textile design documentation files that I have used to generate complex surfaces”
