Court Martial at Fort Devens

April 13, 2012, Mystic CT…Emerson Theatre Collaborative (ETC) announces the production of Jeffrey Sweet’s Court Martial at Fort Devens, directed by Joshua Lee Ramos and produced by ETC’s Camilla Ross.  Court Martial at Fort Devens, tells of a confrontation during WWII between privates who happened to be black women, a white colonel determined to keep them in their place, and the heroic black lawyer who took their case with a little help from Eleanor Roosevelt. Big news in the black press at the time, Court Martial at Fort Devens resurrects a moment in US history, which today is unfamiliar to most. A portion of the profits will be donated to the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC).  MCEC’s mission is to ensure inclusive, quality educational experiences for all military children affected by mobility, family separation, and transition.

Performances run from April 13th   – April 22nd, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Mystic, CT.
