A Memorial COSTUME candlelight vigil will be held at 6:30 pm on 10/30/2011, the one year anniversary of the death of beloved Matthew Chew.
Because Matthew Chew's favorite holiday was Halloween, and because he used to host the year's best annual costume party...
COSTUMES ARE ENCOURAGED!
The vigil will be at Bean and Leaf, where people can view, and sit upon Matthew Chew's beautiful newly placed memorial bench, dedicated by his loving family.
Matthew's breathtaking ART WILL BE ON DISPLAY- NEVER BEFORE HAS so many of his pieces BEEN ON DISPLAY in a public venue! Come see them!
The community will be welcomed and encouraged to share their fond memories of Matthew Chew, and to share their plans, hopes, dreams, and inspiration for a bright future as we press on, not only persevering, but prospering in the wake of such tragedy. And last but certainly not least, you are encouraged to have FUN! Because hey, that's what he would have wanted!
Candles, bracelets, bumper stickers, and POSTERS of Matthew Chew's art will be sold to raise money for the Matthew Chew Memorial Scholarship Fund, and immediately after the vigil, NLAV (New London Anti Violence) will host a Matthew memorial march (costumes encouraged for this, too!).
So come on out, get toasty warm with some delicious Bean & Leaf coffee and other hot drinks, hug some friends, share some memories, see some awesome costumes, behold some beautiful art, and feel good about knowing that you are supporting something worthwhile- keeping Matthew's memory alive by following in his footsteps and making New London a great place.
