Hello my fellow Flower Children! What a perfect day to get out in the garden. All the rain is exactly what we've needed to help our plantings get off to a healthy start. The topic of this post is: Keeping your Azaleas Healthy & Beautiful all year long. Here's what you need to do this week: - gently deadhead all of the dry, brown flower blooms. Use your fingers (not clippers) to pluck the old blooms, or gently shake the branches to make the old blooms fall off. Take off all the dead flowers. Make sure the blooms are completely dead before removing, leave the fresh blooms on the bush. This is a great excuse to spend time relaxing in the garden with your favorite beverage. The deadheading can take time - especially if you have a huge azalea - but this work will promote a healthier bloom next Spring and allow the bush to continue to grow new lush leaves throughout the summer. It keeps your azalea looking gorgeous and loved all summer. Got any helpful tips to share on how to care for Spring flowers & bushes after they've bloomed? Please comment below, I'd love to hear from you. Happy planting! Alex
