Update: Second Student Arrested in Connection with Pellet Gun Incident at New London High
The arrest comes as a follow up to the investigation conducted today.

Update 9:45 p.m.: Police have arrested a second student in connection with a pellet gun incident at New London High School, NBC Connecticut reports.
The second student, identified as a 14-year-old boy was charged with second-degree breach of peace and carrying a dangerous weapon.

At 11:10 a.m. Friday, May 1, New London Police responded to a 911 call at the New London High School on the report of a student in possession of a firearm within the school facility, New London Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard said.
School administrators immediately placed New London High School into lockdown mode as police were notified.

A School Resource Officer assigned to the school obtained information about the alleged incident and a description of the student.
Responding officers, along with school security and administrative staff members, conducted a systematic search of the entire school facility.
The student reported to be in possession of the weapon was ultimately located outside of the building near an athletic field.
A black and pink-colored pistol, which was determined to be a toy capable of firing plastic pellets, was located in close proximity to this student.
A 17-year-old male high school student was detained and later arrested for breach of peace in the second degree and carrying a dangerous weapon.
He was released to a parent with a summons to appear in juvenile court.
This is the second time this week that police have responded to a New London school for a student in possession of a weapon.
An 11-year-old Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School student allegedly brought a handgun to school this week.
