York Correctional Institution Will Host Tip-A-Cop Event July 13
Fundraiser will benefit Special Olympics Connecticut

Officers with the York Correctional Institution will trade in their badges for aprons on Friday, July 13th when they host a Tip-A-Cop event to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut at The Social Bar, 5 to 9 p.m. The Social Bar is located at 208 Bank Street in New London. For more information about this event, please visit www.soct.org, call (203) 230-1201 or email specialolympicsct@soct.org.

Tip-A-Cop is a Law Enforcement Torch Run event.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Connecticut is one of the movement's largest fundraisers. This year-round program involves law enforcement officers from across the state who volunteer their time to raise awareness and funds through events they host including Tip-a-Cops, Cop-on-Tops, and Jail N’ Bail fundraisers.
In addition, each year in June, over 1,500 officers and athletes carry the Special Olympics torch, with its "Flame of Hope”, through hundreds of cities and towns across the state, covering over 530 miles in three days. Officers run the “Final Leg” and light the ceremonial cauldron during Opening Ceremonies for the Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games.
