After thirteen years of providing executive protection security to many well- known celebrities, corporate executives, and former government officials, Newtown native Chris Petitti has opened a 6,000-square-foot training facility at 3 Simm Lane in Newtown, CT. Cannon Ridge Training Center was created to bring a more realistic and practical approach to training in the community with a focus on self-defense, fitness, and intelligence training.
Petitti specializes and is certified in Israeli Krav Maga Street Defense, a system developed for the Israeli Military, which can be practiced by anyone, regardless of size or strength. Krav Maga teaches you to not only defend yourself but to believe in yourself. The Krav Maga style of training is like no other in the world. Similarly, the CRTC facility is like no other. A multi-room space that contains a large conditioning room complete with free weights, ropes, sledgehammers, and tires resembles a military training facility more than a martial arts studio. In here, Ron Osborne, the CRTC Conditioning Bootcamp instructor, takes you on a 6o-minute ride three days a week through his version of Hell on Earth!
CRTC also offers classes in cardio kickboxing, classroom security instruction, and personal training. “I want students to be able to come to one location to fulfill all of their needs. I want students to have the option to take a self-defense class, get their fitness workout in, as well as have access to the security and safety classes that we offer.” Students can catch up on work, surf the web with free WiFi, or sit back, relax, and watch TV in the Cannon Ridge Lounge. If they’re in a rush, they can grab a quick shower and head off to work. “With everyone’s hectic lives, I wanted to create a place where students could come in and train without having to rearrange their whole schedule in order to do so. We offer morning and evening classes to accommodate everyone.”
Petitti stresses that his goal is not only to teach you to protect yourself against an attacker or get into better shape but to help you physically and mentally prepare for the unexpected. “Many people go to the gym to work out to either prepare for a sport or to look good on the beach. Our goal at CRTC is to give you the confidence to take on any obstacle you may have to climb in life.”
CRTC has classes for all levels of fitness.
