Ben's Lighthouse Hosts Outreach Session for Colorado Trip
Teenagers interested in participating can attend the informational session April 22.

Ben’s Lighthouse will be going to Colorado this summer, bringing teenagers to help a community impacted by tragedy, for the third year in a row.
Youth will assist the victims of the September 2013 massive floods in the greater Denver area participating in rebuilding projects.
The trip will take place July 5-11. Students who will have completed grades 9-12 by the end of the current school year are welcome to volunteer to participate. Airfare, ground transportation and most other expenses will be funded by Ben’s Lighthouse.

Anyone interested in participating on this trip is invited to attend an informational meeting and application session on Wednesday April 22, 8 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street.
The group, including five certified chaperones, will stay and work in and around the towns of Fort Collins and Littleton, near the Big Thompson River that overflowed during two weeks of torrential rain.

Volunteers will participate in projects ranging from home and yard cleanup and painting to demolition and roof repair. The group will also visit the Columbine Memorial and meet with survivors from Columbine and Aurora to share experiences related to healing after tragedy.
Ben’s Lighthouse is a non-profit organization dedicated to support the healing of Newtown area children and youth through empathy, self awareness and volunteerism. The organization believes that reaching out to help others in need is an important part of recovering from tragedy, especially among older youth and adults.
