Health & Fitness

a poem for Newtown

condolences

I am a retired teacher (bio, chem, physics) in Georgia (USA).  I love children and I am so sorry for the suffering of your people. A few years ago, I wrote a poem for a friend... a Russian poet who had lost her son. She told me that it was very comforting to her. I am sending it to you. If there is anyone you think it might help, forward it to them. I don't care if my name accompanies it or not. I am just heartbroken about this.

Sing, Wounded Soul

I cannot hold your cries,
they slip through my fingers.
I cannot take away your pain,
it lies so far beyond my reach.
I cannot dig out your sorrow,
its roots are too deep.
I cannot chase away your fears,
They hide and creep out later.
I can only tell you, you are loved.
So, sing, wounded soul…
your tears do not fall into emptiness.
