Guns in churches!  Oh my God!

Michigan Senator Mike Green has introduced Senate Bill #59 which would allow guns to be carried into schools, libraries and churches and other public places.  Let’s assume for a moment that Mike has good intentions but that would be a stretch.

My suspicion is that he is beholden to some radical group of gun
aficionados.  Absent that assumption, let’s just conclude that he has not seen or read about the recent tragedies in our nation at a mall or the senseless killing of twenty children and six adults in Connecticut.  With just those two incidents as a backdrop it would seem that we need legislation once again outlawing assault weapons since the previous law expired in 2004.

If there are compelling reasons to allow weapons in libraries, churches and schools then that same rational should allow guns to be allowed in the State Capitol!  Oh wait – the politicians who supported this bill don’t want guns in their workplace – isn’t that interesting!

Message to Mike Green – please return to the relative obscurity from which you emerged and in the words of that renowned motivational speaker Matt Foley from Saturday Night Live  - “I wish you could just shut your big yapper!”
