Twenty Six Seeds of Love for Newtown

This is the first poem I wrote to honor the victims/Newtown residents. I'm so sorry for what you are going through. Much love to you all

Twenty Six Seeds Of Love

You were taken away too early,
On Friday, December Fourteen,
Twenty Six beautiful souls of Newtown,
Who proudly wore colors of white and of green.

When flowers are called to leave us,
They leave plenty of seeds,
Now is our time to honor you,
With our love and good deeds.

We will always remember you,
Your beautiful faces and names,
We will lift you up and embrace you,
and let our tears flow like rain.

For you have forever changed us,
Nothing will ever be the same,
We can only look deep inside us,
And not let this tragedy be in vain.

We swear on your memories,
To take this sadness and pain,
And try to restore our humanity,
To put kindness before gain.

You will be watching from the heavens,
As we all shout out loud,
We WILL become better people!
We WILL make you proud!

May God love and protect you,
Though we were unable,
And hold and embrace you,
As you all now sit at his table.

And as I hold my 7 yr. old daughter,
And try to calm fears now unfurled,
I will tell her there are now Twenty Six Seeds of Love,
To spread out through the world....
