What is going to happen to all these toys, teddy bears. etc. at memorials?

We have to be thankful for such beautiful and incredible tributes to our children. I just want to make sure that all the toys, stuffed animals, etc. will not be thrown away when our small town returns to some level of 'normalcy' (if that's ever possible?) and that they will go to the affected families or to needy children from around the state.
